What is a Church Health Check?
The National Church Life Survey has been researching what flourishing, healthy churches look like within the Australian context for over 40 years. From a combination of research and long-term on-the-ground pastoral and consulting experience, the Heath Check has been developed to give churches an insight into the current health of their church. There is a combination of qualitative and quantitative measures, backed up by the latest benchmarks and indicators of what healthy churches look like, regardless of ministry model, theology, or governance structures. This assessment is designed to help leadership teams to reflect on the strengths and development areas of their church. Our Partners In Ministry consultants can assist you to develop an action plan as a result.
Which level is right for me & my church?
Level 1:
Pastor
If you want to reflect personally on where the church is at and debrief it with a church consultant to help you get perspective
A fast yet insightful assessment designed for a key leader to complete. This streamlined report provides a clear snapshot of your church’s strengths and areas for growth.
Level 2: Leadership Team
If you want to reflect with your leadership team (of up to 10 people) and trusted individuals and debrief it as a group to help you identify agreed areas to praise God for, and focus on strengthening in the next season
A deeper assessment for a well-rounded perspective on your church’s health. Completed by up to 10 congregants and/or leaders, this report provides a more comprehensive view of strengths and growth areas.
Level 3: Leadership Team + Congregation
If you want to get a picture of the church health from the leaders and congregation to help you identify areas to praise God and focus on strengthening in the next season
A thorough, data-driven assessment to provide deep insights into your church’s health. This in-depth review combines multiple research methods to deliver clear recommendations for strategic action.

The length of time the Church Health Check takes depends on which level you purchase. For all three levels, you’ll receive an email within 4 working days asking for you to complete the survey. Normally, the surveys are open for up to a month. As soon as the survey closes, you’ll be able to see the results.
